Case 1: Management Development Audit (MDA)
MPS China conducted an MDA with a world leading machinery company that has several business units around China. The management team consisted of 12 people, six expatriates and six local management team members. During the process, MPS China consultants interviewed all management team members individually in order to garner a solid understanding about everyone’s competences, way to lead their own function, vision of the company’s future and view of management team’s role and efficiency. In addition, all management team members were assessed by MPS’s unique personality and career motivation test tools.
Together with the leader of client’s management team, MPS consultants went through the findings both in the management team and on the individual level and decided to arrange a feedback session during the next scheduled management team meeting. During the feedback session, participants were briefed on the overall findings of the company and on the management team level as well as individual personalities within the team. Suggestions for improving the efficiency and strategic input of management team were given by MPS. Also, a SWOT analysis was completed as a group work facilitated by a senior MPS consultant.
Overall, the project was very successful and all participants gathered new knowledge about themselves and their colleagues which has resulted in a better understanding and cooperation between various business units and functions within the company in China. As a result, the client made some modifications on the responsibilities of some team members. On an individual level, the findings provide a platform for future development. For example, one member decided to continue the program with individual coaching provided by MPS. Moreover, the client decided to extend the cooperation with MPS to cover several other units and functional level management teams which today is still ongoing.
