Case 2: China Business Coaching
An international executive in a multinational manufacturing company approached MPS China for individual business coaching. Although being a seasoned plant manager with international exposure in Europe and in North America, he was quite new to China and discovered his modus operandi did not work very well in his new assignment. MPS consultant conducted a leadership and personality assessment as a basis for coaching. Based on the findings and executive’s own immediate needs, MPS and the client agreed on a six-month coaching process focused on improving his leadership and communications style to better adapt to the Chinese work environment.
As a result, the executive started to make firmer decisions, set up a proper management team, made several key changes in his organisation and is achieving better results. Furthermore, the client feels more satisfied about himself and has discovered a better way to lead his subordinates. Actually, he has started to coach some of his key local managers which has led to a much closer work relationship and improved commitment to the company. Meanwhile, he has decided to continue the coaching program for an additional six months, and enjoys having a trustworthy sparring partner like MPS China to discuss his new development ideas.
